Thoughtful stays
Hydrate without the waste
Skip the plastics. Filtered water stations are available at reception, while glass water bottles are provided throughout our meeting and event spaces.
We’ve also swapped traditional takeaway coffee cups for biodegradable alternatives and use biodegradable paper straws, helping us cut back on single-use materials wherever we can.
The extras, on request
Dental kits, shaving kits, vanity kits and other bathroom essentials are available on request, along with robes and slippers. It’s a small change that helps us reduce unnecessary waste, while making sure you still have the essentials when you need them.
Bigger bottles, smaller footprint
Large-format, refillable bathroom amenities replace individual toiletries, helping us cut down on plastic waste. Guests can enjoy premium Amatus hand, body and hair care, made with botanical ingredients and bespoke scents, with packaging designed using recyclable and more environmentally conscious materials.
A better way to freshen up
All guest bathrooms are fitted with aerated showerheads, which use less water than standard showerheads. It’s a simple way to reduce water consumption without compromising your shower.
Soft on you, kinder to the planet
Sink into plush bedding with pillow and duvet fillings made from 100% recycled materials. The filling is certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), giving you a softer night’s sleep with a more considered approach to materials.
Fresh air, on your terms
All 252 guest rooms feature openable windows, giving you the choice to enjoy the breeze straight from the city and switch off the air conditioning when you can, helping to reduce energy consumption.
Closer to home, better on the table
We work with local suppliers wherever possible, supporting Australian producers while bringing quality ingredients to the table at Blacksmith Bar & Grill.
Gamekeepers is our main supplier of premium steaks, while our coffee comes from Melbourne-based 36th Parallel, whose specialty-grade beans are freshly roasted, fairly traded and traceable to farm or cooperative level. Sustainability is considered throughout their sourcing and production, so you can enjoy your morning coffee knowing it’s been thoughtfully sourced.
Greenery above Melbourne
Sustainability extends beyond the guest rooms. Soaring vertical gardens bring greenery to our Level 7 pool terrace, creating an urban garden setting among Melbourne's rooftops. A herb garden on the same terrace also allows our chefs to incorporate freshly picked herbs into dishes where possible.

Oz Harvest
IHG is proud to be an OzHarvest ‘Awesome Partner’, working together to reduce food waste, feed Australians in need and help educate young people facing disadvantage.
Each September, voco® Melbourne Central takes part in IHG’s Stay For Good initiative. For every stay at voco Melbourne Central during the month, $1 is donated to help people in need. Every dollar helps provide two meals, divert one kilogram of food from landfill and reduce carbon emissions, turning every stay into a little more good.
Scouts Victoria Recycling
voco® Melbourne Central has partnered with Scouts Victoria Recycling to take part in Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), giving eligible drink containers a second life beyond the general waste stream.
Containers collected across the hotel are returned through the CDS, with every 10-cent refund donated directly to Scouts Victoria to support youth development programs.
It’s a simple way to rethink waste, keep materials in circulation and create a positive impact for both the environment and our community.
